I do! I do! I started with prefolds but around 6-9 months, they just weren't cutting it anymore so I switched to all in ones. Now there's no way I could use diapers with him so we use training pants, even though we're just on the bridge to potty training. I'm using disposable right now because I can't quite afford the initial cost of cloth.

We are doing prefolds a few days a week, and disposables during the other days. I can't afford the diaper service, so I'm left with quite a bit of washing. We bought our covers at Happy Bambino (I traded in some maternity clothes to help with the cost), and they are definitely "cool" with little flowers and other fun designs. Any suggestions for really getting the poop out when washing? I occasionally use Borax, but it really takes away the softness of the cloth.

I would scrape first and then I have a prewash cycle on my machine so I'd use that. I also added white vinegar to the wash which would act as a naturall fabric softener.

When I did cloth diapers (10 yrs ago) I used washing soda. I had forgotten all about washing soda until I read about it on another forum. It softens the water so the detergent can work better. I soaked my diapers in a pail with the washing soda after I rinsed them out. Then I did my washing at nite and hung my diapers out in the sun to dry. It seemed like my diapers stayed white~I assumed from the sun's rays.

CDing family here. Mostly prefolds and fitteds. First I do a short cold wash, no detergent at all. I follow it up with a hot wash with only a touch of perfume free detergent. I always line-dry when weather permits-nothings like sun-bleached dipes!

The sun is your best bet against stains. I also use baking soda with my detergent because my water is so very hard. I buy 50# bags from the feed store for about $8.50, doesn't get any cheaper than that.

I didn't realize that you could buy baking soda in 50# bags, I also didn't kow you could get it from the feed store. That place is turning into a one stop shop lately!

It's labeled Bicarbonate of Soda and is a cattle feed additive. The stuff I get is even made by Arm & Hammer!
