Whenever my kids act like they have nothing to do I send them outside with a list of things to find. I include certain leaves, acorns, grass, dandelions, rocks, etc. Then when they gather all of the stuff on the list we make a nature collage. I like it because the kids will work together as a team. Something my kids don't like to do now that they are getting older.

I used to do this with my older (now a year out of HS and the other will be a senior) nephews. My parents Iand I raised them from three years old and eighteen months. Whenever they would be driving me nuts and/or constantly arguing with one another- particularly while playing video games, I'd send them outside together with a list of things to find. We never did a collage afterward because they would've found something else to do by the time they approached the end of the list. They figured they might as well find something they can do together that they like rather than have to do something together that they didn't care much for. Dang video games! Great idea and thanks for sharing!
